Islamabad: The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), in collaboration with IMARAT, successfully organized a Qiraat competition on Quran Al Kareem and Environment to highlight the Quranic perspective on environmental conservation and the role individuals play in preserving nature.

The event brought together environmentalists, religious scholars, and students to discuss the significance of integrating Islamic teachings into environmental protection efforts.

The Director General of Pak-EPA, in her address, emphasized the responsibility of individuals to safeguard natural resources and protect the environment in accordance with Islamic guidance. She stressed that environmental conservation is not only a scientific and policy-driven endeavor but also a moral and spiritual duty. He further noted that events like this foster interfaith harmony by uniting different religious perspectives on environmental stewardship.

A special acknowledgement was extended to IMARAT and Pak Mission Society for their contributions to the event.

Professor Hafiz Muhammad Naseer from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) delivered an insightful address on environmental preservation as outlined in the Holy Quran. Additionally, Dr Maqsood, Adviser to Pak Mission Society, shared valuable perspectives from the Holy Bible on Christianity’s teachings regarding environmental stewardship.

Junaid, Manager at IMARAT, representing a prominent corporate group, presented a comprehensive discussion on interfaith harmony and environmental responsibility in Islam, Christianity, and other religions. Following the speeches, the Director General of Pak-EPA and all participants took part in a tree plantation ceremony, reinforcing their commitment to promoting environmental conservation.

The Qiraat competition attracted enthusiastic participation from over 30 students representing various universities and colleges.

The top three winners were awarded cash prizes, while all participants received certificates and shields in recognition of their efforts.
