Islamabad Residents Demand Environmental Changes

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Environment Wing held its first-ever online ‘E-Kachehri’ on Thursday, where Islamabad residents voiced their concerns regarding the city’s parks and environmental issues.
The virtual session, hosted on CDA’s Facebook page, allowed citizens to directly interact with CDA officials. Director General of Environment Nazia Abrar Khan and her team addressed the concerns raised, promising quick action to improve the capital’s green spaces.
Residents highlighted issues such as the decline in amenities at Playland Park, urging CDA to restore facilities for children. Others, like Abdullah Khan, suggested imposing penalties on individuals polluting natural streams to curb pollution and pest breeding.
Security was also a concern, with Babar Hussain calling for evening patrols in parks.
Despite the criticism, some participants praised CDA’s recent beautification efforts for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, calling for similar improvements in other city areas.
CDA officials assured that the feedback from this session would be prioritized in efforts to restore Islamabad’s recreational spaces and protect its environment. This ‘E-Kachehri’ is part of a new series of online initiatives by the CDA aimed at addressing citizens’ concerns directly.
