News Desk
Islamabad:The Islamabad district administration has confirmed 11 new dengue cases in the last 24 hours, with surveillance teams conducting 365 inspections to identify mosquito larvae across the federal capital.
According to the report, seven of the cases were detected in rural areas and four in urban localities. Of the 365 inspections, larvae were found at three sites, while ten locations tested negative. The administration said immediate treatment was carried out at positive sites, with follow-up inspections planned to eliminate breeding grounds.
Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates also conducted enforcement drives to ensure compliance with dengue preventive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Several residential and commercial sites were sealed, and some individuals were taken into custody for negligence in implementing control measures.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, urged citizens to strictly follow dengue prevention guidelines, stressing the need to keep homes, workplaces, and surroundings free from stagnant water. He said community cooperation is vital for prevention, adding that “surveillance and enforcement will only succeed when citizens adopt SOPs at the household level.”
The administration directed Assistant Commissioners, Magistrates, and surveillance teams to continue daily monitoring in both urban and rural union councils, with a focus on high-risk zones such as construction sites, junkyards, water storage facilities, and commercial outlets.
Meanwhile, awareness campaigns are being run to educate citizens on preventive practices, including covering water containers, using mosquito repellents, proper waste disposal, and regularly checking rooftops, backyards, and tanks for stagnant water.
Officials emphasized that while inspections and enforcement continue, sustainable dengue control depends on active public participation in preventive practices.
