Islamabad: From high-level parliamentary sessions to international conferences and VVIP visits, the Islamabad Police Security Division spent 2025 quietly safeguarding the nerve centres of Pakistan’s capital, ensuring that diplomacy, governance and public life continued without disruption.
According to the 2025 performance report, the Security Division provided foolproof protection to 903 national and international conferences and events, in addition to security arrangements for 15 international VVIP delegations—an indicator of the expanding security responsibilities in Islamabad.
An official told APP that the annual performance report was issued under the vision of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, highlighting wide-ranging reforms and operational achievements aimed at maintaining peace, stability and protection of sensitive installations across the federal capital.
The report revealed that enhanced security arrangements were successfully put in place for 31 sessions of the National Assembly, 17 sittings of the Senate and four joint sessions of Parliament, along with several in-camera briefings. All proceedings were conducted peacefully under strict security protocols.
A major focus during the year was the strengthening of infrastructure and technology. To ensure the safety of Chinese nationals, a “Panic Alert System” was introduced within the Special Protection Unit.
The Diplomatic Enclave’s perimeter wall was reinforced with an electrified wire system, while modern Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras were installed at key entry points. The Serena Checkpost was also upgraded with advanced surveillance and access-control technology.
The Security Division also ensured comprehensive arrangements during the arrival of Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams and other international sports delegations, reflecting Islamabad’s growing profile as a host for global sporting events.
In addition, the report noted effective deployment in the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone, where police personnel remained on high alert to protect key government buildings, diplomats and other sensitive locations throughout the year.
Beyond operational duties, the division also focused on institutional development and morale. Record promotions were approved for Security Division officers in 2025, with ranks formally pinned in recognition of their service.
A tree plantation drive was organised inside the Diplomatic Enclave as part of the “Green Pakistan” campaign, reflecting a commitment to environmental responsibility.
During “Ghazi Week,” police officers who demonstrated courage and bravery in the line of duty were honoured, while open conferences were held with embassy security officials to discuss operational challenges and strengthen coordination between diplomatic missions and law-enforcement agencies.
SSP Security Division Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider said the Islamabad Police Security Division remains fully committed to the protection of sensitive installations, diplomatic missions and important personalities.
He added that all available resources are being utilised to ensure peace and stability in the federal capital.
