Islamabad Police Secure 9th Muharram Procession

Islamabad: In a bid to ensure the safety of the main 9th Muharram procession in G-6/2, Islamabad Police has deployed over 2,000 officers and implemented comprehensive security measures.

IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi confirmed on Tuesday that the procession is under constant surveillance by drones and Safe City cameras.

The route has been secured with barbed wire and tents, allowing participants to enter only through designated points. Parking for vehicles has been strategically placed away from the procession route to prevent congestion and enhance safety.

Sniper commandos have been stationed on rooftops along the procession path, and all entrants are being thoroughly checked with metal detectors. Scouts are assisting the police with these security checks.

To maintain strict security, all DIGs and SSPs will conduct regular reviews of the arrangements. Additionally, a ban has been imposed on private drones flying in the procession area.

IG Islamabad emphasized the comprehensive nature of the security plan, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the police and community scouts to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
