Islamabad Gets State-of-the-Art Passport, Immigration Office

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, inaugurated the newly constructed state-of-the-art Passport and Immigration Headquarters along with the Islamabad Regional Passport Office, aiming to enhance services for citizens.
The Islamabad Regional Passport Office will now operate 24/7 to provide greater convenience and accessibility.
At the inauguration ceremony, Naqvi announced several reforms and improvements in passport services across the country. He revealed that 24/7 passport issuance services would soon be available at NADRA mega centers in 14 cities, further improving public access to essential services.
The Minister also shared that the longstanding backlog in passport processing has been completely resolved. “Citizens will now receive their passports on time,” Naqvi assured, noting that previous delays of up to six months had been common.
During the ceremony, Naqvi toured the new facilities, including the reception area, online services section, production center, and data center, commending the upgraded infrastructure. He recognized staff members with shields and cash prizes for exceptional performance in passport production.
Naqvi also announced plans to establish model passport centers in Karachi and Lahore to expand high-quality services nationwide. He emphasized the government’s commitment to combating corruption and ensuring transparency within the system.
The event was attended by notable figures such as NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, IG Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi, and DG Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi.
Qazi praised the improvements, stating that they aligned with the Minister’s vision of excellence in public service.
Following recent visits to passport and NADRA centers in Lahore and Karachi, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the improvements, noting that citizens were pleased with the faster and more efficient services. “Conditions have significantly improved, with no long queues or delays,” he said.
This initiative represents a major step in modernizing public services in Pakistan, ensuring that citizens have access to efficient and timely passport and immigration facilities.
