Islamabad Airspace Fully Open, Closure Reports False
News Desk
Islamabad: Authorities have dismissed circulating reports claiming that the airspace over Islamabad has been closed, calling the claims “baseless and misleading.”
Officials confirmed that Islamabad International Airport is fully operational, with all arrivals and departures proceeding on schedule.
An airport spokesperson clarified that no restrictions or suspensions have been imposed on flights in or around the federal capital.
“All flight operations are proceeding normally. Any claims about the closure of Islamabad’s airspace are false and should be disregarded,” the official said.
The spokesperson added that misinformation on social media had caused unnecessary concern among travelers and urged the public to rely only on verified updates from airlines and authorities.

“Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for accurate flight information and avoid unverified posts online,” the official emphasized.
Aviation authorities confirmed that both airspace and airport operations remain stable, secure, and fully functional, assuring the public that routine services continue without disruption.
The clarification comes after Islamabad had briefly been placed on high alert following the sighting of an unidentified drone in the city’s airspace earlier. Security agencies had assessed the situation, prompting precautionary measures to ensure public safety. While the airspace has since reopened, Red Zone areas remain sealed.
The drone sighting is believed to be linked to broader regional tensions amid the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict, which escalated after the February 28 strikes in Iran, including the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei.
Security experts have warned of heightened vigilance, and Pakistani Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad highlighted the situation at the UN, urging an “immediate and complete cessation of hostilities” to prevent further escalation.
Officials reiterated that investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the drone and mitigate any potential threat, urging citizens to refrain from spreading rumours.
