Islamabad Airport’s Surrounding Villages Merged Into Rawalpindi District
News Desk
Islamabad: The five villages near Islamabad Airport in Attock district have officially been merged into the limits of Rawalpindi district, following a notification issued by the Punjab Home Department on Saturday, as reported by a private news channel on Sunday.
Previously, areas including the runway, ASF Colony, Main Terminal Building, and a 3km radius were part of Attock district. However, with the new notification, these areas, including the airport runway, terminal building, and residential colony, are now under Rawalpindi’s jurisdiction.
The newly incorporated areas will fall under the jurisdiction of the Naseerabad police station in Rawalpindi.
The boundary change aims to address long-standing legal and travel-related issues faced by residents of these five villages due to their proximity to both Attock and Rawalpindi districts. The Pakistan Airports Authority has confirmed the inclusion of various airport areas into Rawalpindi district.
