Is Sajal Aly’s Tamgha-e-Imtiaz Award Deserved or Premature?

News Desk

Islamabad: On March 23, 2024, Sajal Aly was honored with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz during Pakistan Day’s award ceremony.

Following the ceremony, a video capturing her receiving the award circulated widely on social media, sparking a range of reactions.

Some fans questioned whether Aly’s relatively short career warranted such a prestigious honor, suggesting that awards like the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz should be reserved for individuals such as soldiers and other professionals who risk their lives for the nation.

Many expressed frustration that individuals in professions such as teaching, engineering, medicine, and religious leadership, who face significant challenges in their careers, do not receive similar recognition.

Instead, they lamented that actors, some of whom they believe promote obscenity, are being honored with such prestigious awards.

This sentiment led many to express concerns about a perceived decline in meritocracy not only within Pakistan but globally as well.

Sajal Aly is a celebrated Pakistani television and film actor, beloved by millions of fans. She began her media career with Ary Digital’s soap serial “Mehmoodabad Ki Malkaaian” and later appeared in “Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewa.”
