Islamabad: Shifting the focus from hardware upgrades to artificial intelligence, Samsung Electronics has positioned its newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy S26 series as a privacy- and AI-centric evolution rather than a radical design overhaul.

Introduced on February 24, the lineup — comprising the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and the flagship Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra — centres on smarter software integration, enhanced on-device security and advanced AI editing tools.

The headline addition is the Ultra model’s integrated “privacy display,” a feature aimed at users increasingly concerned about digital security in public spaces.

Unlike conventional stick-on filters that permanently darken screens, Samsung’s built-in solution can be toggled on demand or activated automatically during sensitive actions such as entering PINs or accessing selected applications.

According to the company, the screen restricts side-angle visibility in both portrait and landscape modes without compromising the primary viewing experience.

While the privacy innovation grabs attention, the camera hardware sees incremental refinement rather than sweeping changes. The S26 Ultra retains its 200-megapixel main sensor, supplemented by wider apertures on the main and ultra-wide lenses to boost low-light results.

The greater emphasis lies in AI-powered editing, enabling users to alter clothing in photos, merge multiple images and reconstruct missing elements through simple text prompts.

Performance varies by region: US models run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, while international versions are equipped with Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chip.

A redesigned vapour chamber in the Ultra improves heat management, and fast-charging capabilities allow the device to reach 75% battery in roughly 30 minutes.

Pricing signals a modest upward adjustment. The Galaxy S26 starts at $899.99 and the S26 Plus at $1,099.99 — both $100 higher than previous equivalents — while the S26 Ultra debuts at $1,299.99.

With the S26 lineup, Samsung appears to be betting that smarter AI features and built-in privacy tools — rather than dramatic hardware shifts — will define the next phase of premium smartphones.
