Iran’s Supreme Leader Vows Retaliation Over US-Israeli Strikes
News Desk
Islamabad: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has issued a stern warning to Israel, declaring it made a “major error” by launching attacks on Iranian territory. In his first public remarks since the United States joined Israel in targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, Khamenei said the repercussions have already begun and will continue.
“The Zionist enemy has made a grave miscalculation. It is being punished and will continue to be punished,” Khamenei said during a speech in Tehran on Wednesday. He further cautioned that Washington’s direct military role in the conflict has sharply escalated the situation. “American intervention in this war is extremely dangerous,” he added.

Tensions have soared following joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes over the weekend that hit key Iranian nuclear sites, including Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow—critical hubs in Iran’s uranium enrichment efforts. The United States has defended the operation as a preventive measure against Iran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons, an accusation Tehran denies. Iranian officials maintain their nuclear program is entirely peaceful and monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, condemned the strikes as “blatant and unlawful aggression,” asserting Tehran’s right to respond under Article 51 of the UN Charter. He linked the U.S. actions to earlier Israeli attacks on Iranian infrastructure, which reportedly caused heavy civilian casualties.

The strikes drew sharp criticism from several global powers. During an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, Russia, China, and Pakistan each condemned the attacks. Russian envoy Vasily Nebenzya warned that the U.S. had “opened a Pandora’s box,” while China’s Ambassador Fu Cong called the operation a “dangerous violation of international law.” Pakistan’s UN representative, Iftikhar Ahmad, described the actions as a “clear breach of Iranian sovereignty” and urged an immediate, unconditional ceasefire.
Despite the attacks, Iranian leaders assert that the country’s nuclear capabilities remain intact. Ali Shamkhani, a senior advisor to Khamenei, emphasized that Iran’s technical knowledge, uranium stockpiles, and political will have not been compromised.
