Iranian President Pezeshkian to Visit Pakistan on July 26

Islamabad: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is set to visit Pakistan on July 26, in what is being described as a significant diplomatic engagement between the two neighbouring countries. The announcement was made by Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei during a press briefing on Monday, according to The News and Iranian media outlet Tasnim News.
Highlighting the importance of the visit, Baqaei said that relations between Iran and Pakistan are rooted in shared historical, cultural, and religious values, and built on a foundation of mutual respect. He noted that diplomatic contacts between Tehran and Islamabad have intensified in recent weeks, particularly in the wake of escalating tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Baqaei referenced recent military developments, including a 12-day assault by Israeli forces on Iran beginning June 13, which targeted military, nuclear, and residential sites. This was followed by U.S. airstrikes on key Iranian nuclear facilities at Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan on June 22.
In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched extensive missile strikes against Israeli targets under “Operation True Promise III,” and also fired missiles at the al-Udeid air base in Qatar—home to the largest American military presence in West Asia. The conflict ceased with a truce on June 24.
Amid these regional tensions, Iran and Pakistan have engaged in continued diplomatic dialogue. In a telephonic conversation earlier this week, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni conveyed condolences to his Pakistani counterpart, Mohsin Naqvi, over the recent loss of life and property caused by devastating floods in Pakistan.
“We stand with the government and people of Pakistan in this difficult time,” said Momeni, assuring Tehran’s willingness to provide assistance to the flood-affected areas.
The two ministers also discussed the preparations for President Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit. Minister Momeni thanked Naqvi for his recent visit to Iran, while Minister Naqvi expressed Islamabad’s eagerness to host the Iranian president later this week.
The high-level visit is expected to further enhance cooperation between Iran and Pakistan across multiple sectors, including security, trade, and regional stability.
