Iran Strikes Israel After US-Israel Attack
News Desk
Tehran: Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel and targeted US bases across the Gulf following a coordinated “major combat operation” by the United States and Israel on Saturday, dramatically escalating tensions in the Middle East and undermining recent diplomatic efforts to resolve the decades-long nuclear dispute with Tehran.
Sirens sounded across northern Israel as Iranian ballistic missiles struck, prompting authorities to instruct residents to seek shelter in safe rooms.
Explosions were also reported in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, while Qatari air defenses intercepted several missiles aimed at US military installations, highlighting the broad regional scope of Iran’s retaliatory campaign, dubbed “Fateh Khyber.”
Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s Parliamentary National Security Committee, warned on X, “We warned you! Now you have started down a path whose end is no longer in your control.”

Tehran reiterated that it would defend itself against any attack and cautioned neighboring countries hosting US troops of retaliatory strikes if American forces engaged Iranian targets.
The Israeli offensive, described as pre-emptive by Defence Minister Israel Katz, targeted Iranian nuclear and missile infrastructure.
Explosions were reported in Tehran, Ispahan, Qom, Karaj, and Kermanshah. Iranian media reported that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was not in Tehran at the time and had been relocated to a secure location.
US President Donald Trump announced the “major combat operations” in a video statement, framing the strikes as a defense of American citizens and a pre-emptive neutralization of Tehran’s missile and naval capabilities.
Trump urged Iranian military personnel to lay down their arms, offering immunity, and appealed to the Iranian public to remain indoors for their safety.
Civilian Impact
Israel closed its airspace to all flights and declared a national emergency. The Transportation Ministry advised passengers abroad to follow media updates and airline notifications. Schools and public institutions were temporarily shut as authorities prepared for potential further missile attacks.
In response to the deteriorating security situation, the Pakistani Foreign Office advised citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran and remain in regular contact with local missions.
Iranian authorities have declared emergencies in hospitals across the country due to casualties from ongoing strikes.
Communications in parts of Tehran remain disrupted, with mobile and internet services reportedly affected.
A Fragile Diplomatic Landscape
The renewed conflict comes months after US-Iran negotiations aimed at preventing military confrontation. Israel has consistently pressed Washington to link any agreement with restrictions on Tehran’s missile program, beyond halting nuclear enrichment.
Analysts warn that the latest escalation could spiral into a broader regional conflict, with devastating humanitarian and geopolitical consequences.
Residents in northern Israel, accustomed to living under the shadow of war, described preparations that have become routine, including safe rooms and emergency kits ready at all times.
As the Middle East braces for further strikes, the world watches a rapidly unfolding crisis that threatens both regional stability and the fragile prospects for diplomacy.
