Iran Launches Sejjil Missiles, Hits Israeli Infrastructure
News Desk
Islamabad: On Thursday morning, a ballistic missile launched from Iranian territory struck Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva, causing significant damage and prompting widespread panic across Israel. Air raid sirens sounded throughout the country as part of what Israeli officials have described as the most extensive missile assault launched from Iran in the past 48 hours.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), between 20 and 30 missiles were fired from Iran around 7:03 AM local time. At least seven impact sites have been identified, including three in the Gush Dan region and a direct hit on Soroka Hospital. Over 50 people have reportedly been injured across the affected areas.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack, vowing retaliation. “This morning, Iran’s terrorist regime fired missiles at Soroka Hospital and civilians in central Israel,” he posted on X. “We will make the tyrants in Tehran pay a heavy price.”
Hospital authorities confirmed that several sections of the facility were hit, with the old surgical wing sustaining severe structural damage. Emergency services promptly evacuated patients and staff, while rescue teams worked to free people trapped in elevators following the strike.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the attack as part of the fourteenth phase of Operation True Promise III, which involved the launch of advanced two-stage Sejjil ballistic missiles. Iranian media celebrated the strike as a success, with unverified footage circulating online showing missiles evading Israel’s air defense systems and civilians rushing to bomb shelters in panic.
In Holon, three individuals were seriously injured, while an 80-year-old man remains in critical condition due to shrapnel wounds. Magen David Adom (MDA) reported over 30 others sustained minor injuries across various cities. Explosions were widely heard in Tel Aviv and other locations, though Israeli authorities have yet to release official casualty figures or a full damage assessment.
The strikes reportedly targeted sensitive infrastructure, including buildings associated with Israel’s military and intelligence services. This has led observers to question the reliability of Israel’s multi-layered missile defense system amid sustained pressure.
The IRGC issued a statement warning that Israeli air defenses have been significantly weakened in recent days due to ongoing Iranian strikes. The statement claimed that Iranian missiles and drones now have dominance over Israeli airspace and urged Israeli settlers to choose between remaining in underground shelters or returning to their countries of origin.
This latest escalation is part of a broader confrontation, sparked by earlier Israeli operations that resulted in the deaths of senior Iranian military figures, nuclear scientists, and numerous civilians. The twelfth and fourteenth phases of Operation True Promise III were reportedly launched in direct retaliation for those actions.
As tensions rise and both nations brace for further military responses, regional stability hangs in the balance.
