Iran-Israel War: Pakistan Becomes Key Air Corridor

Islamabad: As the Iran-Israel conflict intensifies, several international airlines have begun rerouting flights through Pakistani airspace, following widespread airspace closures across the Middle East.

Aviation sources confirmed that major foreign carriers — including Emirates — are now flying over western Pakistan en route to Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and other destinations. This shift has become necessary as airspace over Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Israel remains closed due to escalating regional hostilities.

Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport will stay shut for a third consecutive day, suspending all arrivals and departures, according to the Israel Airports Authority. Authorities are working with domestic carriers to assist Israeli citizens stranded abroad.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission has partially reopened its airspace after reassessing regional threats. “All aircrews and aircraft are ready for action as soon as this becomes possible,” said the authority, noting that actual flight resumptions depend on security conditions.

Iran, however, has extended its airspace closure until 3 p.m. local time (11:30 GMT), citing ongoing risks.

Despite the heightened tensions in the skies, Israel’s land border crossings with Jordan and Egypt remain open, providing limited connectivity amid the volatile situation.
