Iran Denies Involvement in Assassination Attempt on Trump

News Desk

Islamabad: Iran has firmly denied accusations linking it to a plot to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, dismissing them as “unsubstantiated and malicious.”

Earlier, US media outlets reported no connection between the plot and the recent attack on Trump.

On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani rejected reports from CNN and NBC that the US Secret Service had increased security around Trump following intelligence from an unnamed source suggesting a potential Iranian plot against him.

CNN reported no evidence linking the alleged plot to the shooting at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday, where the former president was shot in the ear.

Kanani emphasized that Iran had no involvement in the armed attack against Trump. A spokesman for Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations also called previous accusations of assassination plots “unsubstantiated and malicious.”

Tehran remains resolute in seeking justice for the 2020 killing of Revolutionary Guards commander Qasem Soleimani, for which it holds Trump responsible as the US President and Commander-in-Chief at the time.

Kanani stated that Iran is determined to pursue legal action against Trump for his role in Soleimani’s assassination.

A spokesman for the UN mission reiterated that Trump should be prosecuted and punished in a court of law, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to the legal path to bring him to justice.

The US Secret Service, while acknowledging that it constantly receives new threat information and responds accordingly, declined to comment on the specific reports.
