Tehran/Jerusalem: As Iran’s large-scale missile assault on Israel continues, Tehran has claimed it has shot down two Israeli warplanes that allegedly entered Iranian airspace.

According to Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA, the aircraft were intercepted and destroyed by Iranian air defenses on Friday evening. However, the claim has not been independently verified.

International media outlets, including CNN, have reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been contacted for comment, but have yet to issue an official response.

Meanwhile, the IDF confirmed that the missile attack from Iran is ongoing, stating: “Dozens of additional missiles were launched toward the State of Israel.”

The downing of Israeli aircraft—if confirmed—would mark a dangerous new dimension in the rapidly intensifying conflict, potentially drawing the confrontation deeper into a cross-border military escalation.
