Iran Bombings Pose No Environmental Risk to Pakistan: PMD
News Desk
Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has assured the public that Pakistan remains safe from any environmental or radiation hazards despite the ongoing bombings in Iran.
Spokesperson Anjum Nazir stated that the PMD is maintaining continuous contact with Iranian authorities, with data being exchanged to closely monitor the situation. According to Iranian reports, no dangerous pollutants, toxic gases, or signs of radiation have been detected in the upper atmosphere.

Nazir added that, if a radiation incident were to occur, the potential effects could move toward Turkmenistan due to prevailing wind patterns. He emphasized that the bombings are concentrated in northwestern Iran, while Pakistan’s border areas, which connect with southern Iran, remain unaffected.
“The current situation is not comparable to the 1992 Gulf War, when oil wells were set on fire on a massive scale,” Nazir said. He noted that recent rainfall in Balochistan, Punjab, and upper Sindh has further cleared the air of dust and pollution.
The PMD is conducting detailed examinations of the rainwater to ensure there are no unusual particles. With modern satellite technology, any toxic substances or smoke clouds can now be tracked in real-time. Satellite images so far show Pakistan’s airspace is clear.
Nazir urged the public not to be swayed by rumors, reassuring that the government and relevant institutions are closely monitoring the situation.
