Int’l MOX Fuel Shipment Delivered Safely to Japan by NTS

News Desk

Islamabad: Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS), a global leader in nuclear logistics, has successfully completed the latest international shipment of Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel assemblies from France to Japan, the company announced this week.

The MOX cargo, destined for Units 3 and 4 of the Takahama Nuclear Power Station, travelled aboard Pacific Nuclear Transport Ltd’s (PNTL) specialised vessels Pacific Heron and Pacific Egret. The ships departed Cherbourg, France, in early September and arrived safely in Japan after a tightly regulated and securely monitored voyage.

The delivery marks the ninth MOX transport carried out by NTS during a milestone year that also celebrates PNTL’s 50 years of safe and secure nuclear transport operations.

NTS said the mission was conducted in full compliance with all national and international requirements, supported by robust security protocols and operated by experienced nuclear mariners aboard purpose-built ships.

“The successful delivery demonstrates how key NTS and PNTL are to global nuclear ambitions,” said NTS co-CEO Ben Whittard. “We’re committed to safety and security, and our specialist vessels and teams ensure these critical shipments meet the highest standards.”

Co-CEO Ciara Middlehurst highlighted the importance of international collaboration: “There is a great deal of co-operation involved in these complex moves. Working closely with our partners is essential, and I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to making this shipment a success.”

NTS continues to work with global regulators, governments, and industry stakeholders to help maintain the integrity of the nuclear supply chain, supporting low-carbon energy generation through the safe transport of nuclear materials.
