Islamabad: Meta is launching a new feature on Instagram designed to alleviate the anxiety creators often feel when sharing new content. Called “trial reels,” this tool allows creators to test content ideas with non-followers before sharing them with their main audience.

The trial reels feature enables creators to showcase their reels to a wider audience outside their follower base, providing an opportunity to gauge content performance without impacting their existing followers.

If the reel performs well during this test phase, creators can then choose to share it with their followers or opt for automatic posting if it meets certain criteria.Instagram Introduces Trial Reels for Testing ContentHere’s how it works:

  1. Create a reel as usual.
  2. Before posting, activate the Trial option.
  3. Share the reel.

Once shared, the trial reel will be saved in the creator’s drafts section and will not appear on their profile grid or in the Reels tab unless they choose to share it publicly.

While followers won’t see the trial reel in their feeds, they might come across it via shared links or reels using the same audio or filter.

After a 24-hour evaluation period, creators will receive engagement metrics, including views, likes, and shares, to help assess whether the reel is worth sharing with followers. Creators can also enable Instagram to automatically publish well-performing trial reels after 72 hours.

Meta has been testing this feature and reports positive feedback from creators. The trial reels feature is rolling out globally today.
