Islamabad: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, confirmed the martyrdom of 26 Pakistani civilians and injuries to 46 others in a series of Indian attacks targeting six locations across Pakistan.
Addressing a press briefing on Wednesday morning, Lt. Gen. Sharif stated that India once again demonstrated its “cowardly history” by launching attacks under the cover of darkness, targeting civilian areas and causing significant casualties.
He detailed the tragic impact of the strikes, noting that 13 people, including two young girls, were martyred when a mosque in Ahmedpur East was deliberately struck. Another mosque in Muridke was also targeted, resulting in three deaths and one injury.
In Muzaffarabad, three civilians lost their lives, while a girl and a boy sustained injuries. In Kotli, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy were killed when Mosque Abbas was attacked, with a mother and child also injured in the incident.
Although Sialkot and Shakargarh were among the areas hit, no casualties were reported from those locations.
The DG ISPR further revealed that in response, Pakistan’s military shot down five Indian aircraft and one drone. The downed aircraft included three Rafale jets, one MiG-29, and one SU-series fighter.
He added that India has continued unprovoked shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) since last night, resulting in the deaths of five more civilians. Additionally, the Noseri Dam of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project suffered damage during the strikes.
Lieutenant General Sharif emphasized that the Pakistan Armed Forces have delivered a strong and decisive response and will continue to defend the nation with full resolve.
