India Launches Missile Strikes on Pakistan
News Desk
Islamabad: Tensions between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan escalated dramatically early this morning as India confirmed it had carried out missile strikes targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
In a statement issued around 01:45, the Indian government announced the launch of “Operation Sindoor,” which targeted nine locations believed to be linked to terrorist networks responsible for orchestrating attacks on Indian soil, including last month’s deadly assault on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir.
“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted,” the Indian government said, emphasizing its intent to avoid broader conflict while sending a firm message. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the statement added.
According to Indian authorities, the strikes were carried out from within Indian airspace using precision-guided missiles. Indian police had earlier claimed that two of the attackers involved in the Kashmir tourist attack were Pakistani nationals, an allegation Islamabad denies.

Pakistan’s military swiftly condemned the strikes. At 01:40, a military spokesperson vowed a strong response, declaring that “all of our air force jets are airborne” and warning that Islamabad would retaliate “at a time and place of its choosing.”
“This is a shameful and cowardly attack that was carried out from within India’s airspace,” the spokesperson said, further accusing India of violating international norms.
State-run media in Pakistan, citing military sources, reported that Indian missiles had hit three locations within Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Reuters also reported heavy shelling and loud explosions in the border region, though there were no immediate details on casualties or damage.
The latest developments follow weeks of heightened hostility between the two neighbors after the Kashmir attack, which claimed several lives and reignited long-standing tensions. While India blames Pakistan-based groups for orchestrating the violence, Islamabad has consistently denied any involvement
