News Desk: A devastating fire at the neonatal unit of Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College in Jhansi claimed the lives of 10 newborns late Friday night. Authorities blame the blaze on a faulty oxygen machine.

The fire, which broke out around 10:30 PM, left another 16 infants in critical condition. Disturbing footage showed charred hospital walls and anguished families awaiting news outside.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced that an investigation is underway to identify lapses, with strict action promised against those responsible.

Hospital staff carried out safety audits and fire drills earlier this year, but the tragedy highlights systemic safety lapses in Indian healthcare facilities.
