Imran Khan’s Medical Report Shared With Family, Says Govt
News Desk
Islamabad: The medical report of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan has been shared with his family on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Friday.
In a post on X, Attaullah Tarar said that the executive director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) forwarded Khan’s medical report to the superintendent of Adiala Jail, who then handed it over to the family.
Tarar stated that the development followed a letter from the Leader of the Opposition to the prime minister, as well as petitions filed by PTI leaders before the Supreme Court seeking Khan’s medical examination. The PTI founder Khan is currently serving sentences at Central Jail Rawalpindi (Adiala).
The announcement came shortly after PTI again approached the Supreme Court (SC), requesting access to Khan’s medical reports and the restoration of visitation rights.
However, Khan’s sister Aleema Khan disputed the government’s claims, saying the Adiala jail superintendent presented only “two brief notes” regarding her brother’s health during a hearing before an anti-terrorism court.
In a post on X, she said the conduct showed “a complete disregard for the authority of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.”
Meanwhile, PTI and its allied parties submitted a memorandum to the apex court, alleging violations of law and human rights in Khan’s treatment during his incarceration at Adiala Jail.
The party said it was assured last week that the family would receive Khan’s medical report following a meeting between PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and the Chief Justice of Pakistan. However, the memorandum claimed that no detailed medical reports had been provided so far.

PTI further alleged that Khan’s family and legal team were again denied access to him on Tuesday, despite court orders permitting meetings. According to the party, the last meeting between Khan and one of his sisters took place on December 2, 2025.
The memorandum demanded immediate and unrestricted access for Khan’s family, doctors, lawyers, and friends, alleging that his prolonged isolation amounts to torture under international law and Pakistan’s own jurisprudence.
PTI also expressed concern over reports that Khan was shifted from Adiala Jail to Pims last week for an eye procedure. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar confirmed in the Senate on February 3 that Khan had been taken to the hospital at his own request.
In the memorandum, PTI accused authorities of repeatedly disregarding orders of superior courts, particularly the Islamabad High Court (IHC), and highlighted delays in hearings on petitions seeking suspension of sentences awarded to Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, who is also incarcerated at Adiala Jail.
The party described the failure to decide these applications as “oppressive.”
PTI further alleged that Khan underwent a “rushed and secretive” medical procedure at Pims on January 26, 2026, initially denied by federal ministers before being acknowledged later. It claimed that the family was kept uninformed in violation of jail rules.
The memorandum also cited a meeting between Bushra Bibi and her family on February 3, during which she reportedly said that Khan had been complaining of eye pain for nearly two weeks before receiving medical attention. According to PTI, Khan was examined only after the pain became severe.
