Imad Wasim Announces Second Marriage After Divorce

Islamabad: Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim has announced his second marriage, weeks after publicly confirming his divorce from Sannia Ashfaq, bringing an end to their six-year marriage.
In a detailed personal statement shared on social media, the left-handed all-rounder reflected on his previous relationship, acknowledging regrets and describing his children as his “greatest blessings.” He said the marriage officially ended in late December 2025 after years of unresolved issues.
Wasim addressed criticism directed at his former wife, saying he accepted responsibility for aspects that led to public backlash against her. He urged supporters and the media to show compassion and allow both families privacy during the transition.
The cricketer confirmed that he has now married influencer and lawyer Nyla Raja. According to his statement, the decision was made thoughtfully with the guidance of his parents and aimed at building a stable and peaceful home. Short video clips circulating online show the couple at a private cake-cutting ceremony, prompting mixed reactions on social media.
Wasim reiterated his request for privacy, emphasizing that personal matters involving families and children should not become public spectacle.
The divorce was first announced in December through separate social media statements by both parties. Wasim stated at the time that he had filed for divorce due to long-standing disputes that could not be resolved.
He asked the public to respect their privacy, refrain from sharing old photographs, and avoid referring to Ashfaq as his spouse. He also warned against what he described as misleading narratives and said he would pursue legal action in cases of defamation. He maintained that he would continue to fulfil his responsibilities as a father.
Ashfaq, in her own statement posted shortly after, cited deep personal distress and alleged mistreatment during the marriage. She claimed the involvement of a “third party” intending to marry Wasim was the final strain on their relationship.
Ashfaq, mother of three children including a five-month-old infant at the time, alleged emotional hardship, abandonment during pregnancy, and other grievances. She said she possessed documented evidence supporting her claims and indicated that the matter remained legally contested. She described her decision to speak publicly as a stand for herself, her children, and other women facing similar circumstances.
The developments have drawn significant public attention, with both sides calling for restraint and respect as legal proceedings continue.
