IHC Rules on Bhara Kahu Bypass Project Reserves

News Desk

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday reserved its judgement on a petition challenging the Bhara Kahu bypass project to the extent of Qauid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.

IHC Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb reserved the judgement after listening to arguments from the respondents at length.

The petition was filed by the professors at the university. The residents of Murree’s lawyer argued that the citizens had been waiting for such projects for decades, adding that the court had to view basic human rights.

The lawyer said that it also had to be considered whether the project would affect the study of students or not.  He further argued that the university’s lawyer had already admitted that his clients had no objections if their conditions were fulfilled. The petitioner’s lawyer contended that the top court had taken notice of trees cutting on Embassy Road. After listening to arguments, the court reserved its judgment on the matter.
