IGP Punjab Stresses AI-Driven Policing During Pindi Safe City Visit

Rawalpindi: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, visited the Safe City project in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
During the visit, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi, Babar Sarfraz Alpa, and City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani briefed the IGP on the project’s operations and progress.
Dr. Anwar toured the Command and Control Room, instructing staff to enhance their efficiency and performance. He emphasized the need to expedite the remaining civil work, planning, and final touches of the project.
He highlighted the importance of utilizing the Safe City’s artificial intelligence-based facilities for effective crime investigation and suspect tracking.
The IGP noted that Safe City projects play a crucial role in traffic management, environmental monitoring, and curbing encroachments. Additionally, they serve as a model for community policing while providing essential services to citizens.
He directed Safe City Rawalpindi officers to strengthen coordination with their Islamabad counterparts and other law enforcement agencies to improve law and order in the city.
Dr Anwar further stated that the Safe City initiative is being expanded across all districts and tehsils of Punjab to enhance security and surveillance.
