IESCO Targets Power Thieves with 375 Violations

Islamabad:The detection teams of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) checked 105,884 meters of various tariffs in October, discovering that 375 meters were involved in electricity theft.
IESCO’s Chief Executive Officer, Muhammad Naeem Jan, reported that electricity thieves were fined over Rs 33.74 million for direct electricity usage and meter tampering, with 43 individuals apprehended by the police.
He emphasized that efforts to combat electricity theft have intensified since September 2023, reinforcing IESCO’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against such offenses.
