Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have intensified their crackdown on kite flying, confiscating over 70,000 kites and more than 10,000 kite strings in the past week.

As part of the operation, authorities have also charge-sheeted the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Secretariat police station for inappropriate language, with a departmental inquiry currently underway.

A public relations officer informed APP that strict legal measures were being enforced against those engaged in kite flying, which has previously resulted in fatal incidents.

He emphasized that metal-coated kite strings pose a severe risk to human life, and the police are determined to eliminate this dangerous practice from the capital.

“The loss of innocent lives due to kite flying is unacceptable. Those involved in manufacturing, distributing, and selling kites will face strict legal consequences,” he stated.

The officer reiterated that legal action would continue in accordance with the law to eradicate kite flying from the federal capital.
