Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police’s Kirpa police station team, in coordination with the Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU), arrested a suspect involved in the brutal murder of a citizen.
An official told APP that a case (FIR No. 397/25) was registered after a complainant reported that the accused, Nadeem Baig, had attacked his brother, Muhammad Shehzad, with a sharp-edged weapon, critically injuring him. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.
DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq took immediate notice of the incident and directed Kirpa Police and the HIU to track down the culprit. Acting swiftly, the police arrested the suspect using technical and scientific investigation methods. Further interrogation is underway.
DIG Tariq reiterated that ICT Police are determined to clamp down on crimes, violence, and murders through impartial and effective operations. “No criminal will be spared. Those found guilty will be brought to justice with solid evidence and punished accordingly,” he added.

His wife reported the incident, saying the family had no known enemies. In the second incident, 48-year-old Ashfaq was shot dead while returning from a doctor’s visit with his wife, who identified two alleged attackers and told Tordhir police that the killing was due to a “previous enmity.”
In the third case, 21-year-old Rehman Ali was found dead in a field, with the motive yet to be determined. Police have registered cases for all three incidents and initiated investigations.
In Bahawalpur, at least three people were injured when a car crashed into a tree on the Bahawalpur-Hasilpur Highway near Khanda Mor in Khairpur Tamewali tehsil. According to the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), the accident occurred when the car, traveling at high speed, struck a roadside tree after the driver reportedly fell asleep.
The injured — identified as 70-year-old M. Yaqoob, 35-year-old Asad, and 43-year-old Shagufta — were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Khairpur Tamewali. Hospital sources later confirmed their condition was out of danger.
In another incident in the same district, two individuals were injured in a chain collision involving multiple vehicles on Chishtian Road in Hasilpur tehsil. The collision occurred when a car stopped at the site of an earlier accident involving a donkey cart, and a third vehicle rammed into it.
Rescue 1122 teams provided first aid on-site before shifting the injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hasilpur. Their condition was reported to be stable. Police have launched an investigation into both traffic accidents.
