Islamabad: In response to rising air pollution and smog levels in Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has announced strict new anti-smog measures across the Federal Capital.
Following a meeting with Assistant Commissioners, the Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA), and the Excise Department, the administration has introduced a series of initiatives to reduce emissions.
The measures include a temporary shutdown of brick kilns and factories that emit smoke within Islamabad Capital Territory.
Additionally, smoke-emitting vehicles have been banned from roads, and the burning of garbage, leaves, or any materials outdoors is now prohibited.
Inspections led by ITA Secretary have resulted in penalties for nine vehicles and warnings issued to 27 others for excessive smoke emissions.
DC Irfan Memon emphasized that these measures aim to prevent severe smog conditions, promoting a healthier environment for residents.
