Islamabad: The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024 is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from April 25 to May 7.

The tournament will see 10 teams vying for two spots in the Women’s T20 World Cup, set to be held in Bangladesh later in the year.

These ten teams will be divided into two groups of five each, competing across two venues in Abu Dhabi starting April 25. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, which are slated for May 5.

The winners of the semi-finals will secure their berths in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, joining the hosts, Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and the West Indies in the tournament scheduled for September and October.

Group A comprises Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda, and the United States of America (USA), while Group B consists of Ireland, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Vanuatu, and Zimbabwe.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024 will feature eight teams from the five ICC Global Development Regions, alongside Ireland and Sri Lanka, who didn’t secure spots in the top six of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa, missing out on direct qualification for this year’s tournament.

The qualifier matches will be held at Zayed Cricket Stadium and Tolerance Oval, both integral parts of the Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub. Additionally, two warm-up matches are scheduled at Mohan Oval, which is also located within the same vicinity, on April 21 and 23.

Kicking off the event, Sri Lanka will face Thailand on the opening day, while Scotland will go up against Uganda at Tolerance Oval.

Simultaneously, Ireland will clash with the UAE at Zayed Cricket Stadium, and Zimbabwe will take on Vanuatu. The final match of the tournament is set to occur on May 7 at Zayed Cricket Stadium.

During the group stage, four matches will be played on each match day, with two matches each at Tolerance Oval and Zayed Cricket Stadium.
