Miami, Texas: In the small town of Miami, Texas, where 96 percent of voters supported Donald Trump in the 2020 election, support remains steadfast as Americans head to the polls once again. Despite the absence of visible campaign signs, locals express unwavering confidence in Trump’s return.
“Trump’s going to be the president,” said Julian Huff, 68, a former truck driver. “I feel it and feel good about it, and everybody I talk to feels the same,” he shared, voicing support for Trump’s stance on border security.
Miami, Texas—distinct from its Florida namesake—is the only town in Roberts County, situated far northwest in Texas near Amarillo. Streets remained mostly quiet on Election Day, with the stillness only broken by passing freight trains. The town, reliant on farming, small businesses, and oil and gas jobs, saw a few journalists pass through, but the buzz quickly faded back to silence.
Rick Tennant, 71, a retired judge who now owns an auto repair shop, said he’s always voted Republican and is hopeful for Trump’s win. “I think my money will be safer if Trump wins,” he said.
Another local, gas station owner Randy Crismas, praised Trump’s Christian values, reflecting the close-knit community’s shared beliefs. “This community is as tight-knit as I’ve ever been blessed to live in,” said Crismas.
Huff’s home is one of the few with a Trump sign. “He’s the man for the job and he’s going to get in,” he affirmed confidently.
