Hunza Campaign Boosts Eco-Tourism Efforts

Gilgit: A week-long campaign focused on sustainable development, eco-tourism, and clean water concluded at the Karakoram International University (KIU) Hunza campus.

Organized by WWF-Pakistan, Maati TV, and KIU, the campaign included training sessions for students in interactive theater and documentary filmmaking.

On the final day, students performed a theater piece addressing clean water issues in Hunza and the role of women in community development.

Additionally, four short films produced by the students were screened, covering topics such as clean water, eco-tourism, sustainable development, and challenges faced by the Burushaski language.

Experts commended the students’ creative contributions and the campaign organizers. Nisar Ahmed, Manager of Communications at WWF-Pakistan, expressed gratitude to the audience and praised the students’ work.

He also highlighted WWF-Pakistan’s project, “Water Resource Accountability in Pakistan,” which aims to promote the effective and sustainable management of water resources in the region.
