How Much Fitrana Will You Pay This Year? CII Announces Rates

Islamabad: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has announced the Nisab and rates for Fitrana and Fidyah for the current year, fixing the minimum Fitrana at Rs300 per person, Chairman Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi said on Monday.

According to the CII, Fitrana based on wheat flour has been set at Rs200, while the amount based on barley is Rs1,100. Those opting to pay according to dates are required to pay Rs1,600, while the rate for raisins has been fixed at Rs3,800. The amount based on dried grapes (munqa) has been set at Rs5,400.

The Council also announced Fidyah rates for missed fasts over 30 days. Based on wheat, the Fidyah has been fixed at Rs9,000, while the amount based on barley stands at Rs33,000. The rate based on dates is Rs48,000, while raisins-based Fidyah has been set at Rs114,000.

According to the notification, the 30-day Fidyah based on munqa has been fixed at Rs162,000, while the amount based on wheat flour is Rs6,000.

Dr Naeemi clarified that Fitrana is obligatory on every financially capable Muslim, including men, women and children.

He added that in cases of deliberately breaking a fast, Kaffarah requires either observing continuous fasts for 60 days or feeding 60 needy persons two meals each.
