How Has Online Harassment Changed Imsha’s Life Forever?

Islamabad: Dubai-based social media influencer and TikTok star Imsha Rehman has spoken out for the first time about the “fake” video scandal that disrupted her online presence and personal life last November.
In an interview with a Dubai-based media outlet, Rehman—who has amassed over 200,000 followers on TikTok—shared the devastating impact the incident had on her mental well-being and daily life.
“I saw the video on the internet, and after that, it destroyed my whole life,” she revealed.
The scandal forced her into isolation, making it difficult to continue her education or interact with others.
“I can’t go to university. I can’t face people. I have been receiving numerous death threats,” she added.
Highlighting the psychological toll of social media harassment, Rehman criticized the reckless behavior of individuals who spread misinformation.
“People on social media think it’s just fun to make and share such videos, but they fail to understand the severe consequences it has on the victim,” she said.
Despite immense pressure to respond publicly, the influencer opted for legal action instead of engaging in online disputes.
“I could have responded to the scandal, but I chose to take legal action against them,” Rehman stated.
She commended the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for swiftly apprehending the culprit and urged other victims of cyber harassment to seek justice.
“Our FIA is capable of much more. They have already arrested the culprit, and he is behind bars. The FIA officials have also emphasized that victims should not remain silent but take legal action so that such criminals face the consequences,” she affirmed.
Rehman’s case highlights the growing concern over digital privacy violations and the urgent need for stricter measures to combat online harassment.
