Mumbai: Despite a massive nationwide opening and record-breaking advance bookings, the much-anticipated sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, witnessed disruptions across several regions, with multiple shows, particularly in dubbed languages, either delayed or cancelled.

Responding to audience concerns, the film’s makers issued an official statement acknowledging the inconvenience and outlining a revised screening schedule.

According to the production team, most Hindi shows resumed as planned from 5 pm, while Tamil and Telugu screenings were rescheduled to begin from 9 pm.

Malayalam and Kannada versions, however, have been pushed to the following morning due to technical issues.

“We truly apologise for the inconvenience,” the statement read, adding that affected ticket-holders would have the option of refunds or could choose to watch the Hindi version with subtitles.

The team emphasised the emotional investment behind the project, describing the film as a long-cherished effort they had hoped to present simultaneously across all languages.

They also thanked audiences for their overwhelming response and patience amid the disruptions.

Interestingly, a similar situation was reported during the release of the franchise’s first installment, which also experienced show interruptions despite high demand.

The hiccups come at a time when Dhurandhar: The Revenge is poised for a historic box office run, following the unprecedented success of its predecessor, which reportedly grossed over Rs. 1,350 crore worldwide.

Trade analysts suggest the sequel could cross the Rs 1,000 crore mark as well, potentially making Ranveer Singh the only actor of his generation with back-to-back films in the elite club, joining Shah Rukh Khan, who achieved the feat with Pathaan and Jawan in 2023.

Film trade expert Taran Adarsh described Ranveer as being at the peak of his career, stating that sustained commercial success has now solidified his standing in the industry.

Echoing similar views, industry voices including Shariq Patel and Atul Mohan noted that while inconsistency remains a challenge for contemporary stars, Ranveer’s recent success has significantly strengthened his position among the top-tier actors.

However, some experts struck a cautious note. Suniel Wadhwa suggested that replicating such massive box office success may be difficult in the future, while exhibitor Vishek Chauhan advised the actor to capitalise on his current momentum by continuing in mass-action roles that resonate with audiences across urban and non-urban markets alike.

With strong audience turnout despite initial glitches, all eyes are now on whether Dhurandhar: The Revenge can convert its record-breaking opening buzz into sustained box office dominance.
