Hotel Eye Transforms Policing in Islamabad

News Desk

Islamabad:The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have recorded data of over 25,000 individuals through the Safe City–linked Hotel Eye digital system over the past week, marking a major boost to surveillance and crime-prevention efforts in the federal capital.

According to an official, the Hotel Eye software—now fully functional across all police stations—enables real-time registration of guests staying in hotels, guest houses, and shelter homes.

Through strict scrutiny of the uploaded data, police identified and arrested 11 wanted suspects, with legal proceedings initiated at the respective stations.

The initiative is part of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi’s directives to expand the Safe City project and strengthen integrated monitoring across the city.

Director General Safe City Islamabad Muhammad Haroon Joya said the system has proven highly effective in tracing individuals involved in serious crimes, as it allows immediate identity matching and verification.

He added that city entry and exit points, the Red Zone, major markets, and public places are being monitored round-the-clock through advanced Safe City cameras.

In addition to ground surveillance, drone-based aerial monitoring is also being used to enhance rapid response capabilities and improve perimeter security.

Joya noted that modern tools like Hotel Eye are transforming policing by providing real-time intelligence to operational teams. “The ICT Police is fully committed to technology-driven policing to protect the lives and property of citizens,” he said.

He added that the Hotel Eye system is particularly valuable for tracking out-of-city visitors and identifying repeat offenders, making it one of the most effective digital policing tools currently in use.
