Heavy Rains Disrupt Life in Bahawalpur, More Predicted
News Desk
Bahawalpur: Heavy intermittent rains on Friday and overnight between Friday and Saturday disrupted daily life and business activities in Bahawalpur.
The rain began on Friday afternoon and continued intermittently throughout the night and into Saturday.
The heavy downpour turned roads and streets into virtual canals and lakes, with water even seeping into houses and shops in the city’s downtown areas.
Rainwater accumulated in several areas, including the commercial hub, Satellite Town, Circular Road, Chowk Fawara, the Bus Terminal, Railway Station, Shahdara, Fauji Basti, Maqbool Colony, and Bindra Colony.
In response, staff from the Bahawalpur Municipal Corporation, Bahawalpur District Council, and Bahawalpur Waste Management Company were actively working to drain the accumulated water from roads and key commercial areas.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has forecast partly cloudy to cloudy weather with chances of rain in Bahawalpur over the next 24 hours.
The highest recorded temperature in the last 24 hours was 31°C, with a minimum of 24°C.
Similar weather conditions with chances of rain have also been predicted for the surrounding region. It is worth noting that heavy rains had already impacted Bahawalpur on both Friday and Saturday.
