Heavy Rain Lashes City, More Forecast with Flood Warning

News Desk

Islamabad: The city experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday, with the Meteorological Office forecasting similar conditions over the next 24 hours.

The rain brought a pleasant change to the weather, reducing humidity levels. Winds were recorded at a speed of 13 kilometers per hour.

However, the downpour disrupted the electricity supply, leading to power outages in several areas.

According to Met officials, this marks the eighth spell of monsoon rains in Punjab this year, with more heavy rainfall expected.

In the past 24 hours, Narowal received the highest rainfall at 27mm, followed by 5mm in Sialkot, 4mm in Kasur, 3mm in both Lahore and Gujranwala, and 1mm in Gujrat and Khanewal.

Weather experts have warned that heavy rain on Tuesday could lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas of Narowal, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, and Lahore.

There is also a risk of flash flooding in local streams due to torrential rains. Residents are advised to stay cautious, as heavy rainfall, strong winds, and lightning may damage weak structures.
