Heavy Rain Disrupts Life in Bahawalpur, More Rain Expected

News Desk

Bahawalpur: Heavy rain that lashed Bahawalpur throughout the night between Monday and Tuesday caused significant disruptions in the city.

After light rain on Monday afternoon, intense showers in the evening transformed roads and streets into channels of rainwater.

The downpour continued intermittently throughout the night, dropping temperatures and making the weather cooler.

The persistent rain led to widespread flooding, with streets and roads resembling canals and water entering houses and shops in downtown areas.

Traffic was notably affected on major city roads.

In response, teams from the Bahawalpur Municipal Corporation, Bahawalpur District Council, and Bahawalpur Waste Management Company worked to clear the accumulated rainwater from key areas, including Circular Road, Fareed Gate, and the Bus Terminal area.

The local Met Office has forecasted partly cloudy to cloudy weather with a likelihood of more rain over the next 24 hours.

The region is expected to experience continued rainfall, and farmers are advised to take measures to drain water from their standing crops within three days.

Authorities have also been urged to prepare for potential additional rainfall and ensure timely drainage of rainwater from roads and streets. The temperature in the area ranged from a high of 38°C to a low of 28°C in the past 24 hours.
