PDMA Issues Solar Panel Safety Guidelines
In light of rising solar energy adoption and changing weather conditions, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released new safety guidelines for rooftop solar panel installations.
Key Recommendations:
- Only AEDB-certified professionals should install solar systems.
- Immediate inspections are required at sensitive sites like schools, hospitals, and government buildings.
- Panels must be securely mounted on structurally sound, sealed rooftops.
- Drainage systems should be kept clear to avoid water damage.
- Rooftops must be clean, and panels should be durable enough to withstand hailstorms.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia stressed the importance of strict compliance with these guidelines to ensure safety amid increasingly unpredictable weather. Municipal bodies have been instructed to enforce these regulations rigorously.
