Heatwave Expected in Most Parts of Pakistan Today

Islamabad: A heatwave is expected in most parts of the country, especially in Punjab and Sindh, from today (Tuesday) until May 27.

During the period from today (Tuesday) to May 23, daytime temperatures in Sindh and Punjab are expected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal, and from May 23 to May 27, they are expected to be 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), daytime temperatures in Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan are expected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal from today (Tuesday) until May 27.

The rise in temperatures increases the risk of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) and flash floods, so the public is advised to remain cautious. According to the Met Office, there is no expectation of a heat wave in Karachi.
