Heatwave Claims Two More Lives in Karachi

Karachi: Hot and humid weather persisted in the Metropolis on Thursday, with two additional deaths reported due to the ongoing heatwave in the past few days. Provincial health authorities confirmed that two individuals succumbed to heatstroke at Civil Hospital, bringing the total fatalities to 51 since June this year.
The severe heatwave has severely affected life in Sindh’s capital, exacerbating the misery with hours-long unannounced power cuts.
According to the Meteorological Department, the mercury reached 37°C in the city today, down from yesterday’s high of 40.5°C, but the real-feel temperature soared to a scorching 56°C.
The health department reported nearly 50 cases of heatstroke in the last 24 hours alone. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) indicated that the current temperature in the Metropolis stands at 37°C, feeling like 54°C with humidity levels at 64%.
