Islamabad: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab on Saturday issued a public advisory, urging citizens to take precautionary measures amid rising temperatures and dry weather conditions predicted across the province.

According to a PDMA spokesperson speaking to a private news channel, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and dry weather for Lahore and other parts of Punjab in the coming days.

The department expects a prolonged dry spell with minimal chances of rainfall, which may intensify heat stress and exacerbate air quality issues.

“Temperatures are likely to escalate further over the next 48 to 72 hours, with a negligible chance of precipitation,” the spokesperson warned, adding that the situation could lead to an increase in heat-related illnesses.

Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, and minimize direct sun exposure. The advisory emphasized special care for vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing medical conditions.

“The heatwave alert has been issued as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and minimize health risks,” the spokesperson noted. Authorities remain on high alert and are closely monitoring the weather conditions. Citizens have been urged to stay informed and report any heat-related emergencies to local authorities promptly.

The PDMA reiterated the importance of community vigilance and urged the public to follow health guidelines to mitigate the risks posed by the extreme weather conditions.
