Larkana: The entire city of Larkana and its surrounding areas were gripped by severe heat on Friday, forcing most people to stay indoors. The Met Office in Larkana recorded a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius.
The intense heat has adversely affected daily business activities, causing prices of ice and cold drinks to soar. The harsh weather has also led to an increase in incidents of sunstroke and sunburn, prompting many to seek treatment at public and private hospitals.
In addition to the extreme heat, frequent power outages, particularly around midday, have further tested the residents’ endurance.
In response, the District Health Department of Larkana has distributed handbills with advice on avoiding heat-related complications. The public is advised to drink plenty of water and other liquids, consume lemon water and glucose, avoid overripe and underripe fruits, and wear light-colored clothing.
Furthermore, the Medical Superintendent of Chandka Medical College Hospital in Larkana has announced that special arrangements have been made in all hospitals to treat patients suffering from sunstroke, sunburn, prickly heat, and hypertension. Special centers have also been established for these conditions in the casualty blocks of CMC Hospital and CMC Children Hospital in Larkana.
