Heat Wave Alert: PMD Anticipates Hot, Dry Conditions Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted  predominantly hot and dry weather across most regions of the country in the next 24 hours.

Mehr Sahibzada Khan, Director General of the Department of Meteorology, advised the public to remain indoors whenever possible during extreme heat, seek out cool environments, and wear appropriate clothing when venturing outside to mitigate the effects of heat waves. He also recommended staying hydrated by consuming adequate fluids.

He emphasized the likelihood of temperatures rising above normal levels in the upcoming weeks and urged everyone to take proactive measures to protect themselves from potential heat waves.

In an interview with PTV news, Khan stressed the importance of exercising caution due to the anticipated heat wave.

Responding to inquiries, Khan mentioned that the Met department has issued a fresh advisory regarding the escalating heat and the likelihood of rainfall in various areas.

Additionally, he urged livestock owners to ensure the well-being of their animals during extreme heat and encouraged farmers to adjust their schedules according to weather conditions.

Furthermore, Khan highlighted meteorologists’ predictions of potentially unprecedented monsoon rainfall this year, particularly impacting Balochistan and Sindh.

He noted the positive impact of recent rains on rivers, which have experienced increased flows and rising levels.

Khan cautioned tourists and travelers to stay informed about weather conditions before embarking on trips and advised farmers to take necessary precautions in anticipation of increased monsoon rains this year.
