Healthy Ramazan Eating Tips

News Desk

Islamabad: The holy month of Ramazan has commenced in Pakistan and across the world. During this time, many individuals tend to rest more and avoid strenuous activities while fasting.

Although the weather in Pakistan isn’t excessively hot, regions like Balochistan are experiencing rains and cold winds, raising concerns about the spread of diseases like influenza.

Despite the relatively cooler climate, people often indulge in cold drinks and high-fat foods such as pakoras and rolls during Iftar, following a day of fasting.

However, such dietary habits can lead to complications, particularly for middle-aged and elderly individuals.

Nutrition and health experts advise against consuming excessively cold, hot, or fatty foods during Ramazan.

Furthermore, individuals dealing with obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol should be cautious and avoid foods that are cold, sweet, sour, or high in fat.

To maintain energy levels throughout the day, it’s recommended to consume light foods, yogurt, milk, and water regularly during Sehri.

This balanced approach to nutrition can help individuals stay healthy and energized during Ramadan.

Health experts have cautioned against excessive water intake during Suhoor, as it can lead to bloating, frequent urination, bladder inflammation, and other issues.

They recommend moderation in water consumption to avoid such complications.

Contrary to the belief that fasting reduces energy levels, experts advise individuals to maintain their regular activities during Ramazan to ensure overall health.

Resting excessively during fasting periods may not be beneficial and could potentially harm health.

It’s advised to steer clear of sweet and fatty foods during fasting, as they can negatively impact metabolism and contribute to headaches and fatigue.

Instead, experts suggest breaking the fast with dates, yogurt, water, and fresh fruit juice. After a ten-minute interval, one should opt for a meal rich in minerals to replenish nutrients effectively.
