Hasan Ali Opens Up on Bangladesh Series Snub

Islamabad: Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali has addressed his exclusion from the national squad for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh, revealing that while he was informed of the decision in advance, he remains unaware of the exact reason behind it.
In an exclusive interview with Samaa TV, the 30-year-old pacer said the decision was communicated to him during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by the team’s captain and head coach.
“The head coach and captain had a conversation with me. They informed me that I would not be included in this squad as they were trying to form a pool of 25 players,” he said.
Despite the disappointment, Hasan said he fully respected the team management’s approach and did not want to dwell on the matter. “I do not know the reason for not returning to the ODI team. The team management did what they thought was best, and I respect that,” he stated, adding that his earlier injury has significantly improved.
The right-arm pacer also clarified that criticism from outsiders does not impact him. “People don’t know the full picture. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I have nothing to do with critics,” he said.
Hasan disclosed that he has obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to participate in county cricket. Reaffirming his commitment to red-ball cricket, he said, “If I have to leave T20 and ODI cricket for the sake of playing Tests, then I will. Test cricket is where performances are genuinely valued.”
Discussing leadership styles, Hasan praised former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, calling him his favourite captain. “Sarfaraz will always be number one for me,” he said, while also appreciating Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha for their distinct approaches. He noted that although he has not played under Mohammad Rizwan’s captaincy, he considers Rizwan a capable leader.
On a lighter note, Hasan shared a personal anecdote about his hairstyle. “My wife doesn’t like my long hair. Sometimes she tells me to cut it, sometimes she changes her mind,” he laughed. “But I like keeping my hair long.”
Had he not pursued cricket, Hasan said he would likely have become a lawyer to fulfil his mother’s dream.
Commenting briefly on Pakistan’s stance amid tensions with India, Hasan stated: “If someone looks at our home with bad intentions, we will not remain silent. Today’s technology can destroy the world in a moment. War is not the solution.”
Hasan’s remarks come as Pakistan continues to finalize its squad and strategy for upcoming international fixtures, with emphasis on building a strong bench and long-term player rotation.
