Harris Takes Rally Blitz to Arizona, Trump Holds First in a Week

Phoenix: Kamala Harris continued her aggressive campaign tour of battleground states, making a stop in Arizona on Friday where she criticized Donald Trump on his primary issue of immigration.

In contrast, Trump held his only rally of the week to support a Senate candidate.

As the presidential election approaches in three months, Trump’s relatively sparse schedule—holding rallies every four to five days—contrasts sharply with Harris’s vigorous campaign, especially compared to Trump’s active 2016 campaign.

Since the end of the Republican National Convention in mid-July, Trump has held just five rallies, one fewer than Harris’s total this week alone, and has yet to announce any events for the coming week.

Harris, along with her new running mate Tim Walz, addressed a packed stadium in Arizona, a diverse state that President Joe Biden narrowly won in 2020. While Harris largely stuck to her campaign script, she intensified her critique of Trump over illegal border crossings.

“Donald Trump does not want to fix this problem. Be clear about that,” Harris said. “He talks a big game about border security, but he does not walk the walk.”

Harris highlighted a significant immigration proposal that failed to pass Congress after Trump opposed it earlier this year. “Trump tanked the deal because he thought it would help him win an election. But when I am president, I will sign the bill,” Harris promised, receiving cheers from the crowd.

“We know our immigration system is broken, and we know what it takes to fix it: comprehensive reform that includes strong border security and an earned pathway to citizenship.”
